Save Yourself an Expensive Tow by Knowing How to Jump Start Your Car

You're running late, and your car won’t start! Knowing how to jump start your car can save you from an expensive tow.

To jump start your car from a working car, connect one end of the red jumper cable to the dead car battery’s positive terminal and the other to the working car’s positive terminal. Next, connect one end of the black jumper cable to the working car’s negative terminal and the other end to a metal component in the dead car’s engine. Make sure it isn’t attached to any moving parts.

Start the working car and allow it to run for 1-2 minutes. Start the dead car and allow it to run. Disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order. If you’re having trouble starting your car, bring it down to our service center at Summit Ford Lincoln in Auburn, NY and have our qualified service team find the problem.
